Overview
The HR Generalist position is for human resources duties, including screening, recruiting, interviewing, and placing workers, while also implementing human resource programs to aid in the development of a superior workforce. This is to be accomplished through the use of effective employee selection techniques, the development and implementation of training programs, and the maintenance of required employee documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The HR Generalist position is accountable for screening, recruiting, interviewing, and placing workers while developing and implementing human resource programs designed to address employee improvement areas and employee concerns:
Screens, recruits, interviews, and places workers
- Interprets and explains human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations
- Hires employees and processes hiring-related paperwork
- Informs job applicants of job position details, such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, and promotion opportunities
- Maintains current knowledge of the Equal Opportunity and affirmative action guidelines and laws
- Schedules new employee orientations
- Confers with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures
- Selects qualified job applicants or refers them to managers, making hiring recommendations when appropriate
- Reviews employment applications and job orders to match applicants with job requirements
- Conducts background checks on job applicants
- Contacts applicants to inform them of the status of their applications
- Performs searches for qualified job candidates
- Implements recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated staffing needs
- Interviews job applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education, job skills, or other areas of consideration
- Evaluates selection and testing techniques using appropriate professional, statistical, and testing strategies, and recommends revisions as needed
Develops and implements human resources programs aimed at addressing employee improvement areas and addressing employee and company concerns
- Addresses employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns
- Provides management with information related to interviewing, performance appraisals, or documentation of performance issues
- Analyzes employment-related data and prepares required reports
- Assists with, develops, and administers programs, procedures, and trainings to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company
- Participates in and aids in developing company goals, objectives, and systems
- Assists with the monitoring of an annual budget
- Prepares and maintains employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions
- Utilizes and maintains documentation related to employee and company concerns, such as performance appraisals
Performs additional related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities; Education; and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development, or equivalent area
- 2+ years of experience in a Human Resources position, preferably in the food processing industry

- Knowledge of basic and advanced methods of training and coaching individuals and groups
- Knowledge of principles and procedures involved in personnel recruitment, selection, compensation and benefits, and labor relations and negotiations
